Users who are enrolled in the Android 12 QPR3 program, can expect the Beta 3 update to arrive for seven handsets. Those are the Google Pixel 4, Pixel 4XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro.
What’s in Android 12 Quarterly Pixel Update Beta number 3?
Now, this third iteration of the Android 12 Quarterly Beta doesn’t deliver any new user-facing features. Instead, it focuses on fixing known issues. User-facing features will land with the final release next month. There are a total of three issues fixed by Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3, starting with “various” call quality and connectivity issues. As well as a KeyStore issue that resulted in the NHS COVID-19 app crashing on launch. Pixel 6 Pro devices should also no longer see a white line flashing on their screen after waking their device. That issue primarily occurred for devices that weren’t configured to always show the time and other details on the lock screen. Finally, there are two issues that Google is still working on in this beta. Although those appear to occur rarely. The first known issue is for Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices only. Namely, in some cases, the system crashes when the camera app is used to take a picture. Secondary to that, some devices have had issues with the Camera app icon itself. In those cases, users noted that a work profile indicator has incorrectly shown on the icon.
Most users won’t ever see this update
This update will arrive over the air but that doesn’t mean everybody will see it. Or that everybody will want to install it. These updates are intended to test upcoming feature drops for the Pixel platform, explicitly. They’re also somewhat buggy, as noted above. And users need to be enrolled in the program to take part in the program. Moreover, users who are enrolled should note that they won’t be able to install Android 13 Beta 1 anymore following the update. The next beta update they’ll receive is Android 13 Beta 2.
