Rolling out with firmware version A136USQU2BVE9, Android 12 is currently available to carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy A13 5G. The new Android version brings a plethora of new features, improvements, and changes to the device. The Color Palette feature lets you customize the system-wide theme with unique colors based on your wallpaper. All UI elements take up the new colors. Android 12-based One UI 4.1 also lets you add background blur to any pictures with a human face. You can also adjust the lighting for portraits, convert motion photos to still images, and make time-lapse videos from photos. Improved AR Zone, Samsung Health enhancements, a more powerful Smart Switch, SmartThings Find, new actions for Bixby Routines, and the ability to share Wi-Fi networks are some other highlights of the new software package. The unlocked variants of the Galaxy A13 5G in the US should also soon receive the Android 12 update. This release also introduces the May 2022 Android security patch to the phone.
The Galaxy A13 5G is a decent low-cost 5G smartphone
Samsung released the Galaxy A13 5G in the US last December. The device arrived with Android 11 out of the box. It enabled 5G cellular connectivity at just $249.99. For that price, you get a decent phone with MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage expandable via microSD (dedicated slot). The handset features a 6.5-inch LCD screen with a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate and a resolution of 1,600 by 720 pixels. For photography, you get a 50-megapixel camera at the back with PDAF (phase-detection autofocus). We have two more cameras at the back but there’s not much exciting about them. Just two 2-megapixel sensors for macro shots and depth sensing. A 5-megapixel camera on the front will let you take selfies and make video calls. Other key specs of the Galaxy A13 5G include a 5000mAh battery with 15W fast charging, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and 1080p video recording. If you’re using this phone in the US, the Android 12 update should be available to you now if it hasn’t already. You will receive a notification once the OTA (over the air) rollout hits your unit. You can also navigate to Settings > Software update on your phone and tap on Download and install to manually check for updates.
