Back in early November, Android 13 QPR1 Beta 3.1 was rolled out to compatible Pixel devices, including Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, the Pixel 7 Pro. The update is now heading to Beta 3.1 users, and Google has released the OTA for Pixel devices on Android Beta Program. The package weighs 2.94MB on the Pixel 7 Pro. You can get the OTA now if you’re already enrolled in the Beta Program. Of course, getting the OTA is only possible if you enroll in the program, and you need to ensure that the device is a part of the Beta Program. After installing the update, you’ll notice that the build starts with TQ1A.
You can now opt out of the program without a data wipe
Google also asserted that users can now opt out of the program without data wipe concerns “Until you apply the next Android 13 QPR2 beta update releasing next week.” Google suggests that users should update and install the official Android December 12 update (TQ1A) and then opt out of the program before installing the first Android 13 QPR2 beta update that arrives on December 12. This prevents the device from getting wiped during opt-out. Users who are enrolled in the program and have no plan to opt out will automatically receive Android 13 QPR2 Beta 1. Of course, opting out of the program after installing the QPR2 beta update will result in wiping out all user data on the device per usual program guidelines. This continues “Until the next window of opportunity becomes available in March with the official release of the March Feature Drop.” Google is now busy with releasing Android 13 updates, but it didn’t forget about Android 14. As per the latest reports, we can expect to get Android 14 in April 2023. Additionally, the first update heads to Pixel devices through UPB builds.
