Bang & Olufsen Beoplay EX design and specifications
For a change, the Beoplay EX sport a whole new design language for Bang & Olufsen TWS earbuds. We now have an AirPod-esque stemmed design with a smaller in-ear housing. The company says this “new shape” will allow for a comfortable and stable fit for the user. It would certainly fit better than the previous monolithic models for most people. The new stem-based design language gives the Beoplay EX a pretty sleek look. They feature Bang & Olufsen’s signature premium aesthetic, with a prominent B&O logo on the reflective base of the stem, which also appears to be a touchpad for physical controls. It has a brushed aluminum ring around it. However, the Beoplay EX TWS earbuds aren’t all about design. The company claims these are its “most versatile true wireless earphones to date”. The new pair features 9.2mm speaker drivers, the largest ever used in Bang & Olufsen TWS earbuds. This should allow for powerful sound output. You also get all the usual bells and whistles that you expect from a pair of premium TWS earbuds. We have adaptive ANC (active noise cancelation) for an immersive listening experience. The earbuds feature three microphones each. Combined with the beamforming technology and built-in voice functionality, they offer superior audio quality during voice calls as well. The Beoplay EX feature Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity and support Multipoint connectivity, allowing users to connect the earbuds to two devices simultaneously. The buds boast IP57 certification for dust resistance and waterproof design. They can last for up to six hours on a single charge with ANC turned on. Bang & Olufsen says the pocket-sized aluminum charging case can supply 14 hours of additional playtime to the buds.
Price and availability
Bang & Olufsen products usually come costlier than most competing solutions and the Beoplay EX TWS earbuds are no different. Priced at $399/€399, these earbuds are pretty expensive. But if you’re into them, then the company will start selling the new audio products on May 5th. Only the Anthracite Oxygen color variant (black and blue) will be available at the beginning though. The Gold Tone variant will go on sale on May 27th, followed by the Black Anthracite sometime in June. The Beoplay EX will be available from the company’s official website and retail stores as well as select third-party retailers globally.
