The new firmware version for the latest clamshell folding Galaxy is F711USQU2AUI4. T-Mobile has yet to update its support page with a detailed changelog. So it’s unclear if the device is picking up any user-facing changes with the September security update. However, judging the build number, there could be more than just the vulnerability fixes for this month. Talking about vulnerability fixes, the latest SMR contains fixes for more than 60 issues found in Android OS as well as Samsung’s One UI. At least three of those issues were labeled “critical” by Google. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is picking up all those vulnerability fixes with the latest update.
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 receives its first security update
This is the first security update for Samsung‘s new clamshell folding phone. Launched alongside a bunch of other Galaxy devices at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11th, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 arrived on store shelves globally on August 27th. A week or so into its market debut, Samsung released the September SMR to the phone. As usual, the international versions of the phone received the update first. Users here in the US have been waiting for the update all this while. The wait is finally over. If you’re using the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 on T-Mobile’s network, the September security update should be available for your phone anytime now if it hasn’t already. You should receive a notification prompting you to download the update over the air (OTA). If you haven’t received the notification yet, you can also manually check for updates from your phone’s Settings app. Simply navigate to Software update » Download and install to see if there’s an OTA update pending download. You’ll be prompted to download the update on the next screen. Unlocked Galaxy Z Flip 3 units or users on other networks should also receive the new update soon. Meanwhile, as has been the trend for several months now, Samsung might start seeding the October security patch to its devices over the next two or three days. There’s been no catching the Korean firm as far as security updates are concerned. Nice work, Samsung!
