The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is definitely not easy to repair
That video is embedded below the article, in case you’d like to watch it. It has a duration of 11 minutes, and it goes into great detail. You’ll see the Z Fold 3 being torn down into pieces… well, except its foldable display, but more on that later. The teardown starts the usual way, by applying heat with a heat gun, so that the back cover and cover display can be removed. Once the back cover is off, you’ll get access to most of the phone’s internals. Some of them are placed on the other side as well, for what you’ll need to take off the cover display as well. If you’re performing this, be careful with connectors. Now, regarding the front display. The source tore down the Z Fold 3 almost completely, what it didn’t do is take off the foldable display. PBKreviews explained how that display goes off, though. First, the plastic on the sides needs to be removed, and then the display comes off. Once you do that, though, you can’t really put it back together. You’ll essentially destroy those plastic bumpers that need to be removed.
It got a 2 out of 10 repairability rating, which is quite low
If you assumed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is difficult to pull apart and thus repair as well, you were right. The source gave it a 2 out of 10 repairability score. It is stated that the phone is difficult to pull apart, and it’s very time-consuming. In this video, you’ll also be able to see how the phone is being assembled back into its original form. That’s probably one of the reasons the person in the video didn’t remove its foldable display, even though it was explained how to do it. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 got a 4 out of 10 repairability score from the same source. It’s not much better, but it’s at least something. That was to be expected, though.
