Did you know there are more than 60,000 Disney pins in circulation today, some of which sell for over $5,000? They depict everything from superheroes to monsters, covering franchises as diverse as Star Wars and Mickey Mouse. For Disney aficionados, the pin collecting scene is a fun sideline when visiting one of Disney’s parks worldwide. But it can also be a daunting club for newcomers, with a highly knowledgeable community and a rich established culture. MagicPin is your ticket for entry to the Disney pin world. Developed by S&P Holbrook, this simple but ingenious app lets you identify, organize, trade pins online, and share knowledge with other collectors. The whole thing is built on an AI-driven database that lets you quickly and easily pull up background information on your pins by scanning them with your phone. Once scanned, a pin will appear in your virtual collection, which is organized into custom or standard categories such as brand, movie, superheroes, and so on. . MagicPin even automatically crops out the backdrops when you scan a pin, so that your collection looks neat and professional, with no dirty socks or unmade beds in the background. The app contains a digital pinboard on which to show off your pins. If you like, you can then add your pin to the MagicPin marketplace, where collectors peruse each others’ collections, as well as buying and selling pins. The marketplace is a great way to make some cash, find new pins, and offload your unwanted duplicates. The app supports credit card payments, too, making transactions a breeze. MagicPin – which is not affiliated with the Disney Company – first launched last month, on the 17th of July, exactly 66 years after Disney Land opened its doors in 1955. You can download it for free right now on the App Store and Google Play.
