If you want to talk about emotional rollercoasters, No Man’s Sky is an excellent example. This game launched to a boatload of controversies, and that turned a lot of people off from the game. There’s a long laundry list of the things that went south with the game, but the company has since fixed everything up.
Now, No Man’s Sky is coming to the Nintendo Switch
The Switch is a pretty impressive device for its size, but we can’t deny that it’s still underpowered compared to the competition. This makes it difficult for studios to make games cross-compatible with it and the current systems from Sony and Microsoft. Regardless, people are still able to port games over to the portable system. A game as expansive as No Man’s Sky seems like it would be too much for the Switch to handle, but it looks like that’s not true. Hello Games announced that its massive space exploration game will be launching on the Switch in October 7th. Now, In February this year, the studio announced that it would launch sometime in the summer, so it’s coming a bit later than we expected, but not by much. Hello Games team member Sean Murray said that porting the game to the Switch is “both completely natural and also totally improbable at the same time… but I think this team never seems happier than when they are trying to do near-impossible things.” So yeah, porting the game to the Switch is really hard. The Switch can produce some beautiful graphics, but they’re the kind of graphics that you’d see on a later Xbox 360 or PS3 game. Putting No Man’s Sky on the Switch is probably causing the team to burn through some serious coffee. We’ll see this game hit the Switch in a couple of months, so we’ll have to see how it performs when that time.
