Well, the answer is no. But it’s a bit confusing. You see, when you put the Pixel Watch onto the back of the Pixel 7, or on any other wireless charger, it starts charging. And then stops, without any warning. If you swipe down to get to the quick settings, you’ll see that it is not actually charging. Which is rather annoying if you put it on the back of your Pixel 7 thinking it would start charging, and then come back 20 minutes later to see that it did not charge at all. It’s also rather annoying, given how short the battery life is on the Pixel Watch. Hopefully Google will enable this feature in the future. But the Pixel Watch is also very slippery, and just spins around on the back of my Pixel 7, as you can see in the TikTok below.
Google needs to change this charging behavior
Besides it not really charging on these other wireless chargers, Google needs to change the charging behavior in general. Having it start charging, and then stop without warning is a big deal. For tech nerds like us, we’ll check and see if it’s charging or not. But if it’s my mom, or some other general consumer, they’ll put the watch there and think its charging. But it’s not. Google needs to bring up a notification saying that this charger will not charge the Pixel Watch. It’s a simple fix that would clear up confusion. This is also rather unfortunate, since the Google Pixel Watch charger is on the only one that you can use, and it’s out of stock at the Google Store. It is available and in stock at Best Buy, but it’s not available in stores. Currently, Best Buy is showing it’ll arrive by October 19 (five days from now). So keep that in mind.
