Rocket League Sideswipe brings players to a 2D field
We’re all used to playing Rocket League on a 3D soccer field, but Sideswipe is different. You’ll be facing off against characters in a 2D perspective, dashing from left to right to make the goals. To make the goals, you’ll still be doing special jumps and flips. The fields in Sideswipe are smaller in comparison to the original game, so matches might pass quicker. The field can mostly fit on the screen, which makes sense. Psyonix, the studio that developed this game, was probably looking to accommodate for the limitations with mobile hardware.
There will still be customization options
Since this isn’t a full console/PC release, you can expect some cuts and compromises. Fortunately, you will have some options to customize your car. You will be able to change your car’s color and add on special items. The customization goes beyond the paint job, however. You will be able to change up the trail your car leaves behind, and you can also pick the explosion effect that happens when you make a goal.
The HUD will be easy to use
Sometimes, having a bad HUD can really ruin a mobile game. The controls in Rocket League Sideswipe are pretty basic, and they look easy to use. You move about the field using the virtual joystick, and you have buttons for jumping and boosting. The buttons are really large and easy to press. Since you’re playing on a 2D field, you won’t really need a bunch of complex controls. This means that it should be pretty easy to pick up and play this game.
It’s free, but there are in-app purchases
You won’t be paying anything to download Rocket League Sideswipe, but you’ll be paying for certain features in-game. Undoubtedly, some (if not most) of the customizations will need you to cough up some money. Also, we can expect some of the cars to cost actual money; either that or an exorbitant amount of premium currency. If you’re interested in downloading this game, it’s available for both Android and iOS. It’s going to be about 851MB for the Android version, and it might slow down on older phones.
