The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is coming before the end of May, “around May 20”
According to what he said, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will become official “around May 20”. In regards to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, he said that it will launch next week. It seems like these two chips won’t become official at the same time. That’s a bit odd, but there you go. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 will become the company’s new mid-range SoC, and it’s launching first. Needless to say, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ will be a new flagship offering. That processor will be manufactured by the TSMC, and it’s expected to offer better thermals than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. In fact, it’s expected to offer better performance overall. We’re constantly hearing about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, but we don’t really have much information about the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. The only thing we know is that it will be a mid-range chip, and this is almost certainly a 4nm chip.
Quite a few flagship devices will utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+
Now, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ is expected to fuel a lot of smartphones this year. According to yesterday’s report, 6-8 smartphones are already in line to get that chip. The upcoming Motorola flagship, the Motorola Frontier, is said to be one of them. The same goes for the OnePlus 10 Ultra that is coming, and its sibling, the OnePlus 10. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is also one of the phones that will utilize that chip, and even the Galaxy Z Fold 4 was mentioned. Do note that the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ smartphones are expected to start arriving next month. We’re still not sure what phone will feature it first, as there are quite a few candidates.
