The Galaxy Z Fold 4 may also see a price hike
As spotted by Gizpaw, a European retailer has already listed the Galaxy Z Fold 4 ahead of its launch next month. The listings show a price tag of €1,863 for the 256GB storage variant of the phone, while the 512GB variant is priced at €1,981. Samsung also plans to launch the new foldable in a 1TB storage option. While it hasn’t shown up on the retailer’s website yet, it should be safe to assume that it would cost north of €2,000. Of course, these aren’t standard pricing and may just be placeholders for the time being, until Samsung officially announces the prices. However, the placeholders usually don’t vary much from the official prices. As such, the 256GB and 512GB Galaxy Z Fold 4 may cost €1,849 and €1,999, respectively. This would represent a price hike of €50 and €100 respectively over the two storage variants of the Galaxy Z Fold 3. It’s worth mentioning here that the same European retailer also listed the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with an identical price hike. And this hike likely won’t be limited to the region. The US units of Samsung’s fourth-gen foldables may also come costlier than the third-gen ones. The supply chain issues caused by various factors and the induced price increase of components may have forced this hike. We are hearing that the Korean firm is diversifying its component suppliers to achieve higher cost efficiency. It is using batteries from three different firms — Samsung SDI, LG Energy Solution, and ATL — in the new foldables. These diversifications help in reducing manufacturing costs. But that’s seemingly not enough to keep the price at the same level as last year, let alone reduce it.
