The leak comes from reliable industry source Roland Quandt on Twitter (via SamMobile). Older rumors indicated that the Galaxy S21 FE launch might have been delayed due to a global shortage in semiconductors. Shortly after, we heard that the phone may be limited to just the U.S. and Europe. A report in June said that Samsung might launch the Galaxy S21 FE in favor of the Note flagship this year. This came in the backdrop of reports suggesting that Samsung may not launch a Note flagship in 2021. Moreover, the existence of the Galaxy S21 FE 5G was confirmed in an exclusive leak earlier this month. This leak also confirmed that the phone would be available in four color variants. Officially, Samsung hasn’t confirmed the release date for the Galaxy S21 FE. Reports have indicated that the phone may arrive sometime during fall this year.
The Galaxy S21 FE may not launch during ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ in August
Based on the release timeline of the Galaxy S20 FE in 2020, we can surmise that the Galaxy S21 FE will be unveiled in September 2021. Some leaks have also mentioned October 2021 as the likely launch timeframe. But before that, Samsung will host its ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event on August 11. The event will likely see the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3. Since the company is foregoing the Note flagship this year, the stage appears set for the Galaxy S21 FE to make an appearance. However, this is unlikely to happen based on recent reports. In a bid to build up excitement for the foldable Galaxy phones, the company has even set up a reservation page for the yet-to-be-announced phones. The page says that reservation holders receive 12 months of Samsung Care+ and a higher trade-in credit. As for the Galaxy S21 FE, the phone is expected to pack a 120 Hz AMOLED display and three cameras on the back with a single LED flash. The phones will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, which also powers the Galaxy S21 lineup.
