The Xiaomi 12s Pro is tipped to include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+
This is the first time we’re hearing about these two models. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra was mentioned a number of times thus far, as the Xiaomi flagship to include the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+. We don’t know where the Xiaomi 12s series fits in. Perhaps the Xiaomi 12s Pro will be a rebranded ‘Ultra’ model in some markets? That’s just a wild possibility, as it doesn’t exactly make much sense. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro launched both in China and globally. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is tipped to arrive later this year, once the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ launches. That will likely happen in Q3, according to rumors, but we’ll see.
That SoC is also expected to fuel the Xiaomi 12 Ultra
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is expected to offer an improved camera setup, in addition to a new SoC. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ aka TSMC’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is tipped to offer better thermals than its predecessor. That should offer better performance as a result. The tipster did not share any specs for the Xiaomi 12s or 12s Pro. It is possible these two phones will be new variants of the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. That doesn’t make that much sense either, as the Xiaomi 12s will have the same SoC as the Xiaomi 12 in that case. We’ll have to wait for more information about those two devices. We’re not even sure these two phones will launch globally, it’s possible they’ll be limited to China, or something of the sort. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will likely see a global launch, though. Many rumors indicated that it will happen, and the phone’s arrival seems to be set in stone at this point.
